Andrea Diemert LMFT-LAADC-CHT

As the current owner and director of Sequoia Counseling and Recovery, Andrea holds three licenses: Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist #130217, Licensed Advanced Drug and Alcohol Counselor# LR10120122  and Clinical Hypnotherapist. She provides talk therapy in person and online in  Fair Oaks, Sacramento, and Folsom.

Andrea's therapeutic approach is rooted in a holistic mind-body-spirit perspective. The primary modality used at Sequoia is Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT).  Clients benefit from learning new coping skills, including Mindfulness, Emotion Regulation, Distress Tolerance, and Interpersonal Effectiveness. Additionally, Andrea incorporates somatic-heart work, guiding clients through explorations of Ego States, Brainspotting, and deeper soul work in both the subconscious and conscious mind. With Andrea's guidance, clients embark on a transformative journey towards healing and self-discovery.

Andrea has extensive experience working with clients within the Goodwill organization, offering hope and healing. Her professional journey also includes serving as a facilitator in the Outpatient setting at Saint Joseph's Behavioral Health (SJBH). In this role, Andrea administered Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT) coping skills to patients dealing with depression, anxiety, major diagnoses, addiction, and life transitions. Collaborating closely with psychiatrists in the Inpatient setting, she actively contributed to creating treatment plans for individuals seeking crisis help.

Meditation Healing

Meditation proves to be a valuable practice for alleviating anxiety and enhancing overall mental well-being. Its benefits extend to stress reduction, improvement of negative emotions, and enhancement of psychological wellness. Beyond its positive impact on mental health, meditation is also known to aid in the reduction of chronic pain, improvement of sleep quality, and enhancement of concentration. Various meditation techniques, such as guided meditation, mindfulness meditation, and energy work with singing bowls, offer diverse avenues for individuals to explore and find what resonates with them. At Sequoia Counseling and Recovery, our therapists embrace the importance of meditation by incorporating a dedicated meditation room into our space, in Fair Oaks, California, fostering an environment that supports holistic well-being. Brainspotting

Andrea Diemert is proficient in Brainspotting, a highly effective treatment method as elucidated by David Grand. Brainspotting serves as a potent and focused approach that identifies, processes, and releases core neurophysiological sources of emotional and bodily pain, trauma, dissociation, and various other challenging symptoms. This modality operates as both a diagnostic and treatment tool simultaneously, further enhanced with Biolateral sound. The utilization of Biolateral sound adds depth, directness, and powerful efficacy to the therapeutic process, all while maintaining a focused and contained approach. Dialectical Behavior Therapy

Dialectical behavior therapy (DBT) is a modified type of cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT). Its main goals are to teach people how to live in the moment, develop healthy ways to cope with stress, regulate their emotions, and improve their relationships with others.

Our therapists are trained in DBT techniques. DBT has been proven to be effective in treating a number of mental health issues, including bipolar disorder, anxiety and depression, post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD), eating disorders, and substance abuse. Hello! I am Lee, an Associate Clinical Social Worker with over 20 years of experience supporting people who are living with the impacts of trauma, mental health challenges, and substance misuse. I am passionate about walking beside people as they discover their unique path to wellness. I am influenced by trauma-informed, mindfulness-based, client-centered perspectives, and I recognize healing is a deeply personal journey. In

my work with others, I utilize evidence-based modalities such as CBT, DBT, Solution-Focused, and Narrative therapies. My therapeutic style is rooted in empathy, collaboration, and connection.

My own healing journey has shaped my understanding of how trauma, shame, grief, and loss impact us. I learned that there was nothing inherently bad about me, but bad things happened to me. I also learned that I had resilience and a 100% success rate for surviving difficult things. In my work today, I believe in co-creating a warm and safe space where we can explore ideas like strengthening resilience, self-regulation, healthy coping strategies, and learning to sit with difficult emotions while staying in the present moment. You also have a 100% success rate for surviving difficult things. I would be honored to guide you on a healing journey that meets your individual needs and feels

right for you.

I support individuals from all walks of life, with a special focus on working with BIPOC communities, particularly women of color, as they navigate the complexities of identity, trauma, and resilience. I recognize that mental health is shaped not only by our inner world, but also by the cultural, historical, and systemic forces that influence our lives.

My approach to therapy is grounded in cultural humility, compassion, and presence. I do not see myself as the expert on your life—you are. I am here to walk alongside you, to listen with intention, and to support your journey back to your own strength, wisdom, and healing.

Clinically, I draw from both Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) and Person-Centered Therapy (PCT), while working relationally and at a pace that feels right for you. Our work together will center your voice, values, and lived experience. I view therapy as both a sacred space for reflection and a practical space for growth. It is a place where you can show up fully and be met with care, clarity, and respect.

Whether you are moving through a difficult season, seeking deeper connection with yourself, or simply looking for more grounding, therapy can offer space for healing, restoration, and renewal. You do not have to carry it all on your own.

I believe meaningful change begins with genuine human connection. Rather than taking a traditional "blank slate" approach, I strive to create a supportive space grounded in authenticity, unconditional positive regard, and appropriate transparency. My goal is to help clients feel comfortable being themselves so we can have honest conversations about life's challenges. While therapy can be difficult at times, I also believe humor and self-compassion are important parts of the healing process.

I work with children, teens, and adults navigating anxiety, depression, ADHD, trauma, life transitions, self-esteem concerns, parenting challenges, and family conflict. Because no two clients are the same, I take an individualized, trauma-informed approach that reflects each person's unique needs, strengths, goals, and lived experiences.

My work draws from Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT), Solution-Focused Therapy, strength-based approaches, Brainspotting (Phase 1), EFT Tapping, and family systems perspectives to help clients better understand patterns, strengthen relationships, and create meaningful change.

Whether you're facing a difficult season or simply looking to better understand yourself, I'd love to connect and see how I can support you.

Hello,  I am a therapist dedicated to supporting individuals from all walks of life, with a special focus on BIPOC and Spanish-speaking communities. My work is rooted in curiosity, compassion, and cultural humility, honoring the beliefs, traditions, and social worlds that shape each person’s story. Whether you are navigating life transitions, grief, identity exploration, or relationship challenges, I provide a safe and supportive space to explore what matters most to you. Together, we uncover the strengths that already exist within you and your resilience, courage, and capacity for growth as you move toward balance and healing. In our sessions, I aim to create an environment where you can speak freely and feel both deeply supported and gently challenged, engaging in a process of authentic growth and self-discovery.

My approach integrates Trauma-Informed Care, Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Psychodynamic, and Person-Centered practices, blending evidence-based methods with genuine human connection. With a background in psychiatry, anti-human trafficking advocacy, and housing case work, I bring a broad perspective to supporting individuals experiencing traumatic stress, depression, anxiety, heartbreak, and loss.

As a bilingual clinician (English and Spanish), I am passionate about providing inclusive, culturally responsive, and accessible care. For those who wish, I also offer Faith-Based Counseling, integrating spiritual values into therapy in a way that honors your personal beliefs and lived experience.

Hello, I am a therapist who is committed to hearing your story. Your story matters. I am here to support you and guide you to a place of acceptance, growth, and healing. I recognize that each individual is unique in their own special way and comes from many different walks of life, and I adjust to your needs. You are the expert, also referred to as the driver in your life, and I am the passenger, the one who listens and supports you. Through my professional journey I have approached therapy helping individuals heal their inner child, in which that younger self may have faced difficult situations, hardships, and trauma that have hindered them from reaching their best possible self as they grow in life as an adult. Clinically, I focus on Trauma Informed Based Therapy, including inner child work, pulling from other modalities such as Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Person-Centered Therapy (PCT), Dialectical Behavioral Therapy (DBT), and Emotional Freedom Techniques (EFT). Through our sessions, I move through them with you and utilize tools that are right for you. Therapy is not a one-focus place; it is a special time for you to be understood, respected, receive a clear lens, be grounded, feel safe, gain coping skills, and connect to yourself and or the world. It is your space, but a space for you to not feel alone. It is a space where you will be heard through patience and empathy. Healing takes time and together we will work at a pace that is right for you. You are important, you are not broken, and you do deserve to be proud of yourself.

I am a compassionate and person-centered therapist dedicated to helping individuals and families heal, grow, and reconnect with their strengths. My therapeutic approach is eclectic and tailored to the unique needs of each client, integrating evidence-based treatments such as Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT), Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), Motivational Interviewing, and solution-focused interventions.

My primary focus is trauma recovery, and I believe in treating the whole person, emotionally, relationally, psychologically, and spiritually when appropriate. I strive to create a safe and supportive environment where clients feel seen, heard, and empowered throughout their healing journey. For clients who identify faith as an important part of their lives, I enjoy thoughtfully integrating faith-based perspectives into treatment as a source of strength, hope, and resilience.

I am especially passionate about working with adolescents, teens, young adults, and families. Much of my work focuses on helping clients navigate anxiety, depression, trauma, emotional regulation, identity development, life transitions, and relational challenges. I also enjoy supporting families in repairing relational ruptures, strengthening communication, and building healthier, more connected family dynamics.

I value meeting clients where they are and helping them move beyond feeling “stuck” by building practical coping skills, increasing self-awareness, and fostering meaningful, lasting change. My goal is to help clients feel empowered, supported, and hopeful as they work toward healing and the life they want to create.

I am passionate about helping adolescents, adults, and families heal from trauma, strengthen relationships, and create lives that feel more balanced, meaningful, and authentic. I believe that emotional well-being is deeply connected to our physical health, relationships, environment, and life experiences, and I approach therapy from a holistic perspective that honors the whole person rather than focusing solely on symptoms.

My work is rooted in trauma-informed care and draws from Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT), Family Systems Therapy, and other evidence-based approaches that help individuals develop insight, resilience, and practical tools for lasting change. I have a particular interest in the impact of trauma, chronic stress, attachment, and the mind-body connection, and I strive to create a space where clients feel safe, understood, and empowered. I believe healing often occurs when we learn to approach ourselves with greater compassion, curiosity, and acceptance.

Throughout my career, I have worked across inpatient psychiatry, residential treatment, correctional mental health, and community-based settings, supporting individuals and families facing a wide range of emotional, behavioral, and relational challenges. These experiences have strengthened my commitment to providing care that is both deeply compassionate and grounded in evidence-based practice.

I enjoy working with adolescents, adults, and families experiencing trauma, anxiety, depression, life transitions, emotional dysregulation, relationship difficulties, and the effects of chronic stress. I am especially passionate about helping clients understand how past experiences and family dynamics influence present struggles, while fostering healthier patterns of communication, connection, and self-understanding.

I view therapy as a collaborative process and consider it a privilege to walk alongside clients as they move toward greater emotional wellness, stronger relationships, and lives that feel more connected and fulfilling.

I am passionate about working with couples and individuals on various issues that affect relationships with self and others. Previously, I worked as a residential counselor with teenagers, where I realized the importance of attachment disruption, relational trust and safety, emotion regulation, self-worth. I worked as a case manager at an-inpatient facility for a Dignity Health location, where I led groups and conducted intakes for those being admitted. This was vital to understanding what happens on the other side when a client has a 51-50 and needs to be admitted to the hospital. I also have experience at a non-profit, sliding-scale agency for family and couples support, increasing my awareness of the various environmental factors that press individuals, couples and families as challenges to mental and emotional health. I have volunteered through Hospice of Santa Cruz at Camp Erin, a weekend camp for youth who have lost a family member, where I learned the value of support and camaraderie with those who have experienced a similar loss in grieving and healing.

I have maintained a private practice in Santa Cruz for four years.
